Look up Nissan CVT transmission issues.
No brand is problem free.

Hey all!

I have a 2012 traverse lt with 27,000km.

Today when I got home here is what happened: check engine light, traction control message, engine power reduced message and effective. Called the dealer right away, they said to bring it in tomorow morning...hope I can make it to the dealer.

Also hope they fix it quickly and for good...I'm leaving from Montreal to Florida in 2 weeks...scarry!!!

Let you all know the problem and fix they did...

My 2013 traverse LS is showing the exact same lights

I'll add that if brake fluid level is low it's time to check the brake pads. When pads wear down the brake fluid level drops which is normal.

2012 traverse with same issue. Engine light, Track control and reduced ingine power. Sounded like I was in the wrong gear and went from going 50 mph to barely 10mph with seconds with my children and dog in vehicle. during an heat advisory. Let's just say this could have ended every bad and was not a nice experience at all. Has anybody been able to fix this problem. I am terrified to even attempt to drive it anywhere.

Many sensors can cause the traction control messages/stabilitrack messages. Having reduced power is dangerous though. Have you checked on what the Check Engine Light code is? That should help steer you in the right direction. Has Any Work been done on the vehicle lately? If you are inclined, you could register a report with the NHTSA.

Needs to be scanned for failure codes, there are hundreds of possibilities and a scan is the first step in any shops diagnosis. There are no push this button fixes.

Bump. This just happened to us and car sounds like it is ruining weak now. Just engine light remains and the service stabilitrak light is no longer on. We went on a long road trip and on way home were in cruise control for hours with like no braking. As soon as we got off interstate at our home exit it started going crazy. I hit traction control a few times which seemed to help, at least lights all went off. But engine light back in next day.

Crap. Want to play around with a few things first maybe I can resolve it. Otherwise to the mechanic. Any advice from posters above that had the issue but didn't say outcome?

105k miles, 2012 LTZ.

I have the exact same car of the same year that is doing the same thing. My husband and I have looked into what is causing this and there isnt just 1 answer I have found a bunch of different solutions that others have posted they say fixed their car. So far we have been able to just turn ours off and reset the codes and then it drives on. But this last time it was not that easy it took about 20 minutes of sitting there before I felt the brake finally release. I'm not getting the same answer twice on how to fix this. What fixed it for you? This car should have been recalled for this. It is unbelievably scary when your foot is on the brake and you're pushing it to the floor yet it is still trying to jump forward every few seconds. Then the brakes lock up and you are revving your rpm to get safely off the road. It goes from driving perfect to to all he// breaking loose in a matter of seconds!

If all you're doing is resetting the codes, then you're not actually doing anything to fix your problem.

First thing I'd do it the easiest and cheapest - clean the throttle body.

Also, if you posted the codes you're getting, someone may be able to provide a better solution.

Just watched a YouTube video where a Chevy Equinox had those symptoms and the shop tools couldn't communicate with the TCU. That car was in "limp mode" going slowly. Turned out one of the wires to the TCU was broken, all rusted up. If the dealer detects they can't communicate with the TCU, they could assume a faulty TCU for replacement when the fix could be much, much cheaper.

Hello all,

I apologize for the frustrations that have been caused due to any vehicle issues you may be experiencing. We would be happy to check for any open recalls by VIN. You are welcome to send us a private message at any time with this information. We are also happy to contact your dealership to notify them of concerns you may be experiencing. Thank you!

Chevrolet Customer Care
Hello,

We are experiencing some of the same issues with our used 2009 Chevy traverse. Just had the engine replaced for a new one (thank goodness we had a warranty thru the dealer) and drove about 20 miles, just for the engine light to come back on and then the traction light and service stabile track. Can you advise on what steps to take next? We just bought this at a used dealership less than five months ago. They have helped when things kept popping up, but after reading this forum, looks like they will keep happening.
