Kind of a long post, as part of purchasing my used 2020 traverse, I have to get oil changes and tire rotations done at the dealer and they gave me their lifetime powertrain warranty. About 100 miles after my last service I had the service ESC, ABS light come on,etc. it still drove fine.
Took it back to dealer and it was the ABS wheel sensor front drivers side. They wanted $300 to fix. Told them I’d think about it. Drove it home and the tire had been rubbing on the wire due to a broken clip and rubbed through enough to break connection. I suspect they broke the clip when rotating the tires at last service. Decided then and there I’ll get the part and replace myself.
Got the part for $15 and just got done replacing it. The messages and lights were gone. Got less than a mile down the road and they all came back on. Is this a situation where it takes multiple on/off cycles to clear out, or do I need to take it somewhere to clear the codes? I’m aware that there could also be something else wrong as I just went off the error code the dealer said. Open to advice or suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to read.
