Surround Vision- Tell me I'm not crazy!

I have a 2025 RS with surround vision. I haven't been able to get a clear answer from anyone about whether or not the surround vision camera automatically activates when approaching objects such as a curb? I am almost positive that I've seen it come on when parking, but it's never been consistent and always when I'm way too close for comfort. The inconsistency is making me think I'm losing my mind! I have a couple of minor electrical issues (ambient lighting, seatbelt sensor) that need to be fixed so I'm trying to figure out if this needs to be added to the list. Can anyone weigh in with what they see when parking? Do you have to manually activate or does it automatically come on when approaching an object?

Alright y'all, I made it my mission to figure this camera thing out. I know I've seen it come on in my car automatically and the inconsistency in responses was making me go crazy! Honestly, I'm a little embarrassed by how much energy I've put into this. Here's what I figured out: the camera will come on by itself without manual activation however, it will not until you reach the last row of sensors which is usually way closer than anyone would probably feel comfortable parking. I've tried this a couple of different ways; pulling up to my garage door, pulling up to another car, pulling up to a curb. It worked every time! So yes, the 360 camera will come on automatically as long as you feel risky enough to trust your sensors.
