The Service Stabilitrak/Traction Control Light on my 2011 Traverse LTZ has been coming on and off for a few months. However, I had to prioritize the number of issues that needed to be solved and fixed before entertaining this intermittent issue. Now, with everything solved and fixed, except for that rear A/C, I fixed the stabilitrack/traction control by replacing the Brake Pedal Position Sensor (ACDelco 25912943).

First, I took the cover off above the pedal by unscrewing the 10 mm screw and using a flat head screwdriver to pry the three tab buttons out about 1/2 inch.

Second, I squeezed the tab on the blue dotted connector and pulled it off.

Third, I used a 7 mm ratchet to unscrew the one screw, and off it came.

I simply installed the new one. The brake pedal position sensor pivots, so it makes it easy to reinstall. The "Service Stabilitrak/Traction Control Off" light is off, the brake lights no longer stay on, and I am now able to use my cruise control.

There are lots of things that can give you the Service Stabiltrak light. What clued you in to replacing the brake pedal sensor, vice something like a wheel speed sensor or the senor ring on the bearings?
I had gone to the bank to use the ATM, and I left the Traverse running. When I turned around, I noticed that the brake lights were on and that made me think of a video I viewed where the guy said that the brake pedal position sensor causes the brake light to stay on and it affects the cruise control because the computer is thinking that the brakes are being applied. So, a malfunctioning brake pedal position sensor automatically prevents the setting of the cruise control. It is a good thing I left it running and walked away or else, I don't think I would have solved it quickly and inexpensively.
