Just curious, why is there hard surfacing on the body underneath the seat?? Can anybody answer this???

I'm actually looking to do the opposite in my Enclave. Glad I came across this. I have the captains chairs and want to put in a bench. Now if I could only find a take out Titanium color 60 split side complete. Any additional thoughts on doing the opposite?
I actually have a bench seat cloth titanium accent and planning to have it replaced to captain seat... Why don't we trade seats for a win win situation if u a good with the color?

Just wanted to chime in here and say that yesterday I successfully swapped the bench seats on my 2011 Traverse with bucket seats from a 2013 Enclave.

Some caveats if anyone still wants to do the same thing.

1. Try and use an impact wrench. Of all the times for mine to not work, this was it. The bolts used to keep the bench seat on the floor could not have been on any tighter and I had a helluva time getting them off manually with my ratchet. If you don't have an impact wrench I'd suggest spraying some PB Blaster catalyst on each bolt and letting it sit for while before attempting to loosen the bolts. ou may find you'll use muscles you didn't know you had.

2. You'll need to cut out some carpet on the driver side in order for the right side rails of the new seat to fit and be able to be bolted down. I recommend putting the new seat in place, then using a piece of chalk on the carpet to outline where you have to cut. Cutting the carpet will also expose the "filler" bolts in the unused holes. You'll need a Torx 50 bit to remove these bolts.

3. In total, the 2 bucket seats use 3 more floor bolts and washers than the bench seats. You can get these from your dealer, but ones from your local hardware store will suffice.

4. The plastic trim panels that go over the seat rails won't fit exactly. I needed to trim off some plastic on the underside of them with my Dremel in order for them fit. Also, if you care about how they look, the "outside" pieces...the trim pieces next to the doors work fine, but you'll need to replace the "inside" trim pieces for both seats, as the ones designed for the bench seats don't look quite right. I haven't been able to find them online so I may have go to the dealer for those.

5. Factory floor mats from the bench seats no longer fit properly.

6. There will be a "hole" in the carpet from where the old rails from the 2 bench seats met. Haven't figured out how I'm going to tackle this yet. I may just fill it with whatever foam I can find the put the weathertech floor liner over it and nobody will know the difference.

In the end, aside from getting the bolts off it was a pretty easy and straight forward job. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

I know I am necro-posting here, but I have questions regarding this post and did not feel it warranted starting a new thread over.

I am wanting to change my 2012 traverse LT that has a bench second row to captains as we have our third child coming in about a month. Doing so would make it easier for the oldest to get into the back row instead of taking out either the booster seat for the 4 yr old or the carseat base for the newborn each time.

I have found a place that has the captain seats in the same color/material that I need but I am unsure as to what else I will need or where to find it (replacement carpet inserts, frame rails, covers, etc.). Can anyone that has done this, or seen it done let me know what else I would need before I purchase the seats only to find out I will need several hundred dollars of other items.

Thanks in advance.

there is a post where someone did the conversion----

Thank you for the reply, but at this time I am not interested in switching car seat types as we use the same one across my car, the mrs's and our parents/baby sitters so we would have bases just laying around being unused.

wabashman--

dont know how long theyve been sitting around-- but double check the expiration date on the seats/ seat bases.

Oh trust me, the lady did that a month ago, lol. She was all up on me like you need to check this, NOW. I failed to do so as I felt getting the siding put up onto the house was more important and was reminded hourly that the seats needed checked. She ended up doing it herself and found out we still have 1.5 years left on both.

Thank you for the reminder though, as before she mentioned it, I had completely forgot that plastic and foam could expire.

Here are the beginning of the pictures. I still have to tie up a few loose ends like build the "floor board" between the captain's chairs and order the inner floor / seat track covers for both seats along with new floor mats.
I'm wondering if it is just as easy to swap the captain seat for a bench seat? Or would a jump seat fit? I have a 2014 Traverse. I need more seats!!!

I am also going in the opposite direction. But with a 2016 Traverse. Would a 2014 2nd row bench seat be compatible with a 2016? I think so but would like to confirm.I currently have captains chairs but with the family growing, I am now in need of the full bench. I didn't even think about the floorboard. If going from captains to a bench seat, would I need to do any cutting or replacing of that as well?
