U also need a method to turn the amp on whenever the radio is on and off when the radio is off. There are basically 2 methods to do this, depending on the amp u have. The most common way is to find a switched wire that has 12V when the radio is on and 0V when the radio is off. Tap into this wire and run it to the remote/activation terminal on the amp. The amperage requirement is very small, so basically any switched wire will work.
The other method is signal sensing. Some amps have the capability to turn on when they detect a signal at the input. However, I don't like this approach as the amps often turn off at low volume.
Oh yeah, u will also need a ground wire for the amp that should be at least as thick as the power wire. U can probably find an existing factory ground near the amp location, so u can use that.
