How hard is the engine cooling fan to replace on an 09 Traverse? One of the fans never runs. I think it should come on when I run the ac turned on and it doesn't. It has 12 volt power to it. Looked on the web and can't find any directions.

If you haven't already, before you remove the fan, test or replace the relays that control the fans. When working properly both fans should run at the same time when they are activated at either slow or high speed. Engine temp and the ECM control their operation so they may not come on when the A/C is turned on until the air increases the heat load enough. There are three relays that control the fans. They are located in the under hood fuse block. One relay operates the right fan, a second the left and the third both at full speed. The relays switch the fans from series wired at low speed to parallel wired at high speed.

Removing the fans require taking off the upper front end support and filler plate that holds the hood latch, disconnecting the radiator and wiring then pulling the rad and fans out the top. It may be easier to remove the plastic front end and grill to get at the bad fan if that is the problem.

This watered down info comes from my C/D repair manual which I am not smart enough to truly understand but gives you some idea what may be involved. If you are going to keep doing your own repairs, the $10.00 repair C/D off EBay is worth it as it is quite detailed in listing the proper steps and has decent diagrams.

Just got it fixed. Swapped the relays and it still didn't work. Checked the fuses and they were good but swapped them out too. I guess one of them wasn't making good contact because it fixed it. Now just have to figure out why it is now blowing warm air out the right side. I remember seeing something about it earlier. Thanks for the help.

Look for the repair manual on ebay and can't find it. Do you have a link for it?

Here's a free service manual you can download from the Enclave forum site.

Hello dear i am facing the cooling fan problem, I post on many forum but no one is replying :-(

I have traverse 2012. Fan start blowing when temperature gauge is rising little bit up, i checked the temperature from elm tool, when temp reached at 105C then fan turn ON.
I changed the thermostat also but no luck. Fan is blowing late, where can be problem?
