I recently got a 2010 Traverse FWD Traveler's Edition which includes the DVD rear seat entertainment system, XM, touchscreen NAV, rearview camera, etc. I was happy to finally have a vehicle that I could plug my iPod into (via the headphone jack on the dash) and became even more excited when I later read in the manual about the USB port for controlling an iPod. After searching all over for the port, I discovered that it wasn't included in the Traveler's Edition.

I find it really odd that it doesn't have it. From what I've read, the USB port is included in all of the regular LT and LTZ models that have the rear seat entertainment and/or NAV systems. Why in the world wasn't it included in the Traveler's Edition?

Realizing that my grumbling will change nothing, can I add a USB port to my system? And if so, what's the easiest and least expensive way to do that?

There are a few ways to do this. Look up information on the Onstar Lockpick. This will do what you want. I added a Parrot Bluethooth device so I also have direct control and have hands free but I bought an LS.

I know this may sound dumb, but the USB port is located in the center console storage area, you checked there right :-\

Yes, I've looked at that area very closely (several times in fact :'( ) and there's nothing there. I'd love to see a photo of someone else's though, so I can be 100% sure I'm looking in the right spot and am not just going blind.

The only one of those I have listed is UVC.

Yet I do have NAV, rear entertainment system, rear DVD player, etc. This is why I find it very strange that they didn't include the USB port.

For those that have it, I'm extremely curious how the USB port is actually wired to the head unit with NAV. I'd love to see pictures of this, in order to see if I'm just missing a cable or something.

weird that the Travelers edition does not show up on the order guide...
but we know it exists because quite a few members have bought them.

if you post your vin.. someone can run it and post the RPO codes.
or you can type them all in...

Travelers edition may be a regional package. Usually doesn't show up on order lists unless you're in that region.

Here's a dumb question: Is there any risk in publishing my VIN on a public forum such as this?

Also, if someone can do a lookup of my VIN to get my RPO codes, is there any other interesting information they can tell me about my Traverse?

I know of a member on the Acadia forum that can run your VIN through GMVIS, that will tell you all RPO's your Traverse was built with and other useful info. Not sure if anywhere he has the same

I dont see any danger.
We dont know your address.
Also- if they run your vin- they can see if any service/recalls have been done.

Published VIN numbers, in the wrong hands, can lead to home addresses, owners names, PLUS key codes, which can lead to a Traverse M.I.A.. :banghead:

Allow ONLY the dealer run the VIN, they will know all you need / want to know and more.

OK - now back to the original topic.

Does my list of RPO codes (see above) reveal anything interesting about the possibility of inexpensively equipping my Traverse with a USB port?

Can I get someone to post a photo of the factory installed USB port?

Or how about a photo of how the factory installed USB port is connected to the head unit?

PCR, as well as PCV, are the Traveler's Edition codes.

http://www.cars.com/chevrolet/traverse/2010/options/

There is an $1800 difference between the two. I think the only difference is the Nav system, which I have in my Traveler's Edition. Or, it could be the rear entertainment system, which I also have. I can't really tell from the link above.

In any case, I couldn't find my USB port either, although like the OP the documentation leads me to believe it should be there.

The Traveler's Edition was a low volume, very-specially priced package to sell-out '09 MY navigation systems which did not have the USB port. That's why the vehicle price for the content included was nearly $2K less than a '10 model with navigation. There is no way to update the vehicle to add the USB port other than to replace the entire navigation system.
