HELP! I'M LOSING MY MIND....

Hi all,

I'm literally going to snap! I took out a brand new 2023 Traverse and I love the drive, the space, and everything about it. However, after owning the car for around one week, I noticed a front-end rattling noise. I immediately contacted my dealership, but they are quite far from me, so I decided to do some research first.

After doing a lot of research, I found that this is a known issue for the Traverse. I took it to a nearby CERTIFIED Chevy service location and they told me it was normal. However, after I convinced them that it was not normal, they told me the loud rattling noise comes from the Purge valve and they would replace it. But, if it didn't fix the issue, I was out of luck.

The noise is still there, and it's driving me nuts! The car is never quiet! I did see some older YouTube videos of people replacing the Purge valve, and the rattle stopped, but none of them were from the newer model. So, it might be that the rattling sound is normal for old purge valves.

Now, I know three people who have the new Traverse, and all of them have the same issue. I mean, where are we? It's 2023, and we have brand new Chevys and every second Traverse owner has this issue, and there's no resolution!

Whoever can help me with any information that will lead to a fix, I'll quick-pay you $100!
That's where we are in 2023 with American car manufacturers..."

My 2013 equinox does it.
Though not always.
Finally one day i heard it, got out, popped hood and went ro look.
Finally was able to physically touch around...
Yup the ticking was coming from the purge valve.
My 2010 does not. Occasionally ill hear it. But quieter.. much quieter.
The early ones, thats how you knew they were bad.
Later years, replacing does nothing.
Based on the pic online doing a search on the sleeve part #...
It is just a foam sleeve.
Im thinking buy foam sleeve yourself and zip tie it in place.

Xltbest, can you post pic of the finished work?

You know, sometimes you as the owner can be gentle and kind to your vehicle vs the lowest guy on the totem pole doing this install.

Like when they did the wiper recall on my equinox. Wipers were way off... actually wiped off the glass on the drivers side.
I had to pull and reseat the arms in the proper location.... vs taking it back and waiting.

That looks easy to do.
When my 2023 arrives, ill see if theyve implemented this.
If not, ill do it myself.
Looks like foamy heat resistant rubber.
Based on the tsb, its placed at 2 spots. Those are probably the natural frequency points that help the tick be louder.
I wonder if simply wrapping electrical tape at those positions would change the natural frequency enough to quiet it.

Hmmmm.
Ohhh, xltbest... thank you for posting that pic. Very helpful.
Heres an image of the part.

Make a how to.
Watthour...
Exactly how i see these working.
Picked up my 23.
I heard the noise at times, but i was listening for it. Much quieter than my 2013 equinox with the 3.6.

Ill order the parts and install them.
Though i was pleased that the hood did come with the heat shield.

Just ordered the parts.
Oh yeah.. he did flip em.
Hmmm, ordered the parts....
I think they got lost. Were to be delivered yesterday. Theyve been in Wilcox, Az for 3 days now.

My 2 pieces, and the pressurized coolant bottle for my 13 equinox. I found it has a crack, allowing drops of coolant.
