i bought the 2012 Traverse 2LT new and always taken to the dealer for service but after main bearing giving out at 54000 and the dealer had to take the engine apart to fix it , glad I had the extended warranty I have decided to get rid if it and trading it in. I really liked it But feel that I cannot depend on it.

anyone else had a main bearing ho so soon?

Main bearing failures are very unusual in today's engines.

Main bearing failure is pretty much catastrophic. I'm curious, did they rebuild or replace the engine? It's not really something that can just be fixed in place - or should I say something that should not just be fixed. Even if you disassemble the bottom end and just replace the affected bearing, it's likely put metal in the oil in the process and the rest of your main and rod bearings are now in a questionable state, let alone the fact mains don't typically just fail without an underlying oiling issue (especially at that rather low mileage), they're simply the canary. Don't blame you for dumping it after they "fixed" it.
