The Chevrolet Traverse will be the least expensive crossover based on GM's Lambda platform, according to a new report. UAW officials have told Spring Hill, Tennessee workers the Traverse will be priced a whopping $10,000 below the Buick Enclave.

That would give the Traverse a starting price of somewhere around $22,790, according to Automotive News. That's considerably less than the Saturn Outlook's $28,340 or the GMC Acadia's $29,990.

Chevy is targeting sales of 250,000 units annually for the Traverse, the report says. The Traverse will help fill the gap left by TrailBlazer, which is being discontinued.

Sources say the Traverse should bow at either the 2008 Detroit Auto Show or 2008 Chicago Auto Show, which is known for showcasing upcoming truck and SUV models.
