2009 traverse won’t charge. I replaced the alternator but I’m wondering if my issue is the positive battery cable. A piece of the clamp broke off. Would it not charge good enough because of that?

All connections should be checked and repaired/replaced as needed. Rule that out since it's currently broken.

just following up on my original post.
Turns out the alternator I installed was defective and ruined my battery. Installed a new battery and alternator and problem was fixed.
