After 14 months and 23000 miles with 14 trips to the dealer for warranty work including a new engine , transmission shifter . And several pieces of the suspension replaced I had enough. Dealer has contacted GM and I will be trading up to a new Silverado 1500 diesel. I was treated very fairly and will not be out any cash. I cant complain at all.

Sure you want to go from a new gen Traverse to a new gen Silverado with a new 3.0l duramax diesel? GM doesn't have the greatest rep for designing diesels and you may be seeing even more of the dealer. Have a '19, might want to go '20.....suspension has been modified to be less "bouncy" due to 400 lb lighter weight. The 5.3 DFM /8 spd, not the 5.3 AFM/6 spd. runs smooth as silk with 21+mpg.....need more power go 6.2l. With the higher cost of diesel and need to constantly fill the DEF tank, you'll be paying a lot more than gas.

I moved from a 2011 Acadia into a 2019 Terrain diesel a couple months ago. So far, there are a couple big-name stations around here selling diesel for less than regular unleaded.

It burned oil from the first day. After a oil consumption check by the dealer GM replaced the motor. The old one had a hole in a piston and a scratch on the cylinder wall. Don't know what happened but it looks like something was in that cylinder and scored it and holed the piston before it reached the dealer.

I don't blame you. You are smart for getting out now.
I went through the same thing with a 2010 Malibu I bought new. Too many problems under warranty. I traded it in at 3yr/36k.

Someone at the factory dropped something inside the cylinder during the lunch break and closed the head without knowing it I supposed? Lol

The 3.6 is one the highest rated engine and replaced 2 v6 engines based on hp/tq and reliability.by engine masters.

The transmission is another thing, but all manufacturers have problems, ask Honda...ended up using GM fluid to fix shifting issues. Yes, they have it in shop...

Good luck on your next purchase.

The strike is over and my pickup is on the way!! I am really hoping that my Traverse doesn't crap out before it does. I am having intermittent display problems now. At times the display will black out and when it comes back it is a bunch of strange symbols and lettering. Also the trans will not go into gear on occasion. Must place in neutral and back to drive to get it to go. So far it has been in the dealers 15 times for warranty. That is a total of 6 weeks and almost 2000 miles of driving as I live 120 miles round trip from the dealer.

I cant say enough good about my dealer! They have been very supportive and have tried to accommodate me every step of the way. C Speck Chevrolet in Sunnyside Washington is a firstclass family operation.

I think you'll like the new truck, my dad just got a '20 Sierra SLT 5.3 w/ the 10 speed, what an improvement over his '15 5.3 6 speed in terms of drivetrain refinement and performance given the same HP/TQ. I'm warming to the Silverado styling but I am glad he got the Sierra as I like the styling better and the factory LEDs all around look and perform great.
