I heard a hissing sound and shortly after loss cooling from the AC. I borught it to a local shop and they said that there is a hole in the AC caused by the stearing hose rubbing against the AC hose.

They explained that you cannot simply replace one hose and that all the hoses and the hole system needs to be repalced. They quoted by $2600. The breakdown is this:

Replace AC and Heater Lines $1308.34
EVAC and REcharge $139.95
Replace Condenser $552.48
Coolant FLush $99.95
Diagnositics $116.99

First, I know there total quote only adds up to $2200 and they told me $2600.

Does this sound right? This is a lot of money and I wonder if there is a way to patch or replace the hose that broke and save some money?

Thanks in advance

Run from that location and never go back. I had freon and dye added, leak diagnosed, two hoses replaced of which both were leaking and refilled and tested woekong for $440ish. Each shop is different but sounds fishy.

I had my dealer replace the corroded leaking rear a/c lines on my Tahoe. Did it on my old Yukon and didn't want to wrestle with that job again without having a lift to put it on. Cost for that was $1500 total at my dealer.
That's too much, take it somewhere else.
