So yesterday I bought my 2020 Chevy Traverse LT. My husband got in it and said the radio screen was black and wouldn't turn on. Shut it off and went in dealership and they said it was just on when they drove to fill up with gas. So they go out and start car up again and screen and radio is working. So he leaves and drives 40 miles, turns off car and when he gets back in the screen is dead again. Goes back to dealership and they test and say it is a Bad Stereo. They don't have a new one of course because they said it is serial number specific to each car. Wants to know if we want a new car? They don't have the same one on the lot of course so we say we will take it and take it in to a dealership closer to us today. The dealership was awesome and called or local dealership and told them issue and said I would b in today. They had sad it was a bad radio and it would b replaced.
So I take it in today, the screen, radio, USB ports, and cigarette lighter are all dead when he pulls it in shop. Brings it out in a few minutes and tells me that it is because a stupid engineer somewhere has decided to make everything so it is downloaded. Says radio is working fine and to give it some time and if it happens again to bring it in for the day and he will take a look at it.
So my question is has anyone ever heard of this before? A system that needs to download? And my stereo is dead again by the way. Ugh. Just sad that brand new car is broken. Thanks for any help. Sorry this is so long.

You have a computer on tires. That's the side affect of wanting all these ''modern'' features and conveniences.
There is a screen in there to enable the vehicle to link to your home wi fi for updates. Do it, it may solve your issue.
I'm having a XM issue with my new High Country, I'll have them look at it when it goes in for it's first oil change.

I had 2 previous Chevy's with a similar problem;
-2016 Malibu they replaced the whole system
-2017 Volt was fixed with a software upgrade
-so far no issues with our '19 Traverse

Both of the fixes above stuck (issues never recurred).
Hopefully this will soon be fixed and a non-point for you

Got WiFi at home ? Go into settings and let your vehicle be enabled to connect to your home WiFi. My XM radio issues have seemed to disappear now. I doesn't get driven a lot but it seems it's been updated in the garage.
I was going to address this at it's first and free oil change but it not enough miles on it yet.

Take it to another dealer.
Even though mine has been working fine I mentioned it to my dealer when just in for 1st oil change and they said a 2-3 hr. upload is now available for the entertainment system. They just did a Silverado and that's how long it took so it's a drop off update.

Mine has done same thing. We test drove it just around the block and salesman was riding up front with my husband. He told my husband to just make a circle and park it in front of Dealership . We had no reason to put it in R. After going back in and signing all paperworkPurchased New 2020 Chevrolet Traverse Premier . We drove it approximately 1/2 mile and pulled off Hwy into convenient store, which we had to pull up to front and got out and went in store. Came back out and first time putting traverse in R, NO BACKUP CAM AND BLACK SCREEN FLICKERS THEN PINK SCREEN COME UP, on same day we purchased and the New Traverse had 58 miles on it prior to us buying the Traverse, but the work Bench documents showed that only 4 miles had been put on the traverse. Couldn’t use back up camera tho or any of the cameras bc it has the 360 * view. we purchased New 2020 Traverse Premier loaded. Called dealership and told The Finance Mgr that the Traverse Backup camera isn’t working correctly. He told me bring it in following week and he’d have service ck it out and get it fixed and while it was there, he have detail shop to detail it also bc he promised us that bfr signing papers. Stayed at service dept 3 days, was called and told Traverse was ready to go. Got in Traverse at Dealership bc salesman had pulled it up to the front door so we had to put in R! NO BACKUP CAMERA, not been detailed either,Immediately called our salesman that had just started 3-4 days befor we purchased the Traverse Premier, told him that I haven’t even left the parking space you parked the traverse in and put it in R and it’s doing same exact thing as it has been doing every since first day we bought it. He kept apologizing and apologizing but it wasn’t his fault. Anyways he said he’d let the Technicians know the next morn. I took pic of Black and pink screen before every moving from the front door of the dealership. . So if you purchase a new Traverse Premier , any model, Premier, High Country, LT, LTX or which ever and it shows no backup camera. Do not buy it! I’ve read where so many people have had this same problem and don’t know why they don’t report it to the BBB, AGO, the FTC and they will make GM recall all these vehicles. They last time GM told me to take it back to crossroads and let them fix everything they tore up. I told GM Senior Advisor that I did not want Crossroads touching this Traverse again. The service dept hadn’t done anything he said but try trace down a shortage in a cable from from backup camera at rear all way to the front infotainment systems. They tore up the side panels, back panels, the whole inside has been disassembled and they didn’t know how to put the panels back together bc there’s huge gaps in every panel inside the traverse, they’ve tore the top interior apart from the top of Traverse and left it hanging down. Evidently they got water in through the top bc there’s a big brown ring across the whole top back from the back hatch also being taken apart and it has such huge major gaps in the back hatch and around the outside class of hatch back bc someone there at Crossroads did the damage to the rear window seal between Saturday Even and Monday morning at 9:00 am. The service dept didn’t even have the guts to call us and say it was ready bc it wasn’t fixed , it was even torn up more. I do have all pics dated and dated videos of everything, everytime it had been at the dealership before I left it and when I picked it up and the dealership also lied that when we ask was that the same traverse that had been setting there back last fall. FM told us No, we just got that one in last week. What a lie bc I have a document given to be on March 19 that shows it was in the service dept and also shows that that traverse had been setting at that same dealership since 6/23/2019. 9 months bfr we purchased it. They’ve lied to GM and everyone they could but I have all the proof to prove them all wrong and and that they lied. I was told to send that message to higher Authorities along with several more documents proving they have lied about everything . It’s said when you have to lie in order to keep your job and especially when one of them is a Pentecostal Preacher. I’ll never listen to him again preach anything just knowing he lied to save his job. God would have provided him with a prob better job away from there but he chose the wrong turn. He knows what I mean and it in the KJV Bible !!
