I am interested in buying a 2018 Traverse Premier and I had some questions. I want a Cajun Red one and I contacted Chevy for availability and they gave me the dealers that have them, and none of them are in the country east of Minnesota!!! So I will have to order one. Questions:

1) What have people been getting for discounts on 2018 Traverses?
2) How long after you place an order does the car get to the dealer?
3) I need the car in April, so when would be the best time to order to get the best price? Should I order at the end of a month or at the end of the year, or possibly wait for February sales events?

Thanks for any input.

1. Slim to none discounts from what I've been seeing here on the forum
2. Someone said they just ordered and its supposed to come in December (don't know when)
3. For the most part, dealers don't give deals on orders. But maybe you'll get lucky, or someone else has some words of wisdom.

1. I got about 13% off my HC on the last day of August.
2. I would say 3-4 months before delivery
3. Orders use deals on arrival and final negotiations, try to get a deposit that is fully refundable so there is no risk for you on the order (I have ordered 3 cars and all were $500-$1000 refundable deposits).

That is an impressive discount for a new 2018 model. I assume that it was a lot car, that they had in stock. Did you think that you benefited by waiting until the last day of the month to get that price? In what state did you buy it?

It was on the lot. Delivered the day before. I was the first test drive and got the car with 5 miles on it.

The dealer I went to is a volume store so they only care about the sale and not the extra cash on deals. I think this plays a big part.

We just ordered a Cajun Red Tintcoat High Country last week. We saw the color on a 1LT and decided that was the color we wanted! Based on what the local dealers told us this is what I found out:

1) What have people been getting for discounts on 2018 Traverses?

The dealer we ordered through is a high volume dealer. We will pay "Invoice" for our Traverse, that can mean a lot of things, but it is over $4,000 off MSRP in this case. Plus $1,000 a dealer military discount, plus there is a $750 package discount. All added up it is about $6,000 off the as built sticker price of $54,495. That is about 9% off before we get serious about negotiating when it arrives. I may use USAA's car buying service if that works out better price wise.

2) How long after you place an order does the car get to the dealer?

We looked at Chevy, GMC, and Buick variants and all of the dealers said 8 to 12 weeks average. We just missed last weeks allocation so our order goes in this Thursday. There is a 2 week down time at Christmas that can impact that estimate.

3) I need the car in April, so when would be the best time to order to get the best price? Should I order at the end of a month or at the end of the year, or possibly wait for February sales events?

I'd order around 10-12 weeks out.

Regarding sales events and GM Rebates they are normally based on the day you purchase the car, not the date you order it. So if there had been a rebate in effect last Thursday, that isn't still offered when we actually purchase, we would loose it. But if there is a new rebate on the day we purchase it, that wasn't offered when we ordered it, we will get that rebate. Also special pricing and rebates are often limited to dealer stock "on hand" during the big sales events. I suggest checking with your local dealer and make sure this is all correct...

Note: This may be a duplicate post. I tried posting a response here earlier and saw an error message about needing Mod approval. If the first response appears I apologize for the duplication.

Thanks for the information. This will be my wife's car and she really wants the Cajun Red color. We test drove a black High Country and loved it, however she did not like the brown interior. Did you ever see a red High Country, as we were wondering how does the brown interior go with the red exterior? I am really surprised that Chevy only offers that one interior color on all the High Countrys.

I haven't seen a Cajun Red High Country in person. Around here all the H.C.'s in dealer stock are either White, as in the base white, Silver, or Black. Only one dealer we visited had a Cajun Red on the 1LT we saw.

I think the brown interior will go with the Red with no issues. We've looked at the combination on line and it didn't clash or look awful. I'm not really surprised that Chevy only offers one top line interior. That minimizes inventory and simplifies everything from their viewpoint...as long as that don't lose too many sales it isn't a bad plan.

I like the brown. Much nicer than other browns and it’s really two tone all around.
