My rebuilt tranny (50k+ miles on it) on my 2012 Traverse with AWD just started to shudder again. Tried anti-shudder additives and is helping somewhat. Can I just switch over to the new Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP fluid the new Traverses are using even though it is not Dexos vi approved? My Aamco warranty is way over so not worried about that.

I just spent another half hour researching this... apparently plenty of people are using it as a replacement and at one point the older Mobil 1 bottles said it was backwards compatible, but now it does not and GM has never officially stated that it supersedes DexVI.

So I will probably continue to use full synthetic Valvoline DexVI until Mobil 1 or GM state that LV HP ATF supersedes DexVI.

At 50k on that fluid you are ready for a fluid change anyway per the severe schedule. Severe schedule is you friend for long component life.
