I have a 2009 Traverse. Snowflake flashes 3 times. No cold air coming out. We were told that we needed a new ac compressor kit, condensor and ac suction hose. We were also told that we didn't have a leak. We paid $2200 for repairs. After the ac repairs were done, my line freezes after 30-60 minutes but the ac in the back of my suv still works. My car battery didn't have problems before and now it is dead every morning. took my vehicle back and told them it is not working properly. They put in a high side pressure sensor. No changes in my cars behavior. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Welcome to the forum. I'm certainly no expert, but how old is your battery? My car was starting fine, no problems at all until I had my A/C looked at. They replaced my duct temperature sensor, which ended up not being the problem- it was the HVAC control module. After receiving my car back, overnight, it would default the DIC to the vehicle mileage (I always leave it on instant fuel economy, and before this, it would be right there on that setting when I started my car) and it would erase the parameters for average mileage, fuel used, etc. It did this for a couple of days, and I assumed it was related to my duct sensor. I should note that as a work around for the HVAC control module, they left the duct sensor unplugged and as a result, the A/C was blowing at 32 degrees with ambient temperature being 61.

However, I remember reading that a dying battery will have weird results on a Traverse, and it was a Saturday (shop was closed that did the A/C work), so I decided to look at my battery. When I took the battery out, it was the original battery. Manufacture date was August, 2011 and my traverse is a 2012. New battery at Costco and the DIC worked perfectly again. Also, it cranks much faster. I just didn't know any better regarding the cranking as it was what I was used to.

Long story short, I would check your battery. I found my battery going dead to be SUCH a coincidence in timing since I just had the car worked on, but I'm glad I checked it out. Also, my A/C was flashing 3 times some of the time, and others it would stay lit but the recirculate button wouldn't work while on the dash air setting (blowing at your face). In my case, it was a failing HVAC control module fooling the car to turn off the A/C because it doesn't know what temperature it is outside. I ordered a new control module and will be replacing it soon, and trying to figure out how to re plug in the duct sensor. I hope this helps, but like I said, I'm no expert.

Thank you for what information you've given me. I had my battery tested 3 times. Once at Autozone and twice at Jiffy Lube. They all said my battery was reading fine. I took it to where I bought my vehicle and they told me that my battery reading was erratic. So I replaced my battery. As of right now, it hasn't died over night (1 night so far) The AC line is still freezing though. No one around here has been able to figure out why my backseat air blows cold 100% of the time, even when my line freezes. My front vents work fine until about 30 minutes of driving with the air on. Once it freezes, those blow out nothing. I'm wondering if it is a moisture issue or a sensor or something else!

Hello. We have had the ac charged four times in our 2012 traverse. It lasts about three days each time. We then took it and had dye injected with no leak found. Anyone have similar issues?

I believe you have a front and rear expansion valve. If the front expansion valve or the line going into the valve has a restriction from foreign debris ( probably from the repair ) then that could cause freezing lines in the front but the back to still operate.

Check the hose going from condenser to compressor if that’s not it then it may be in your dash or in the passenger rear panel.

I'll second this. We had a problem with a plugged rear expansion valve last year, and the front would get cold but the rear was still warm. After some time, I believe the evaporator in the front would freeze over from having all of the refrigerant volume moving through it rather than split between the front and rear, and we would lose almost all front airflow.

I’m not trying to point fingers but kinda seems like whoever made these repairs didn’t know what they were doing. Almost seems like they were throwing parts onto a car hoping it would work. How can they decide the condenser was bad when they claim the compressor needed to be replaced and if there wasn’t any leaks why replace the line? ?‍♂?‍♂?‍♂

It's blinking to let you know the fan is not on. Turn the dial one time or more to the right to engage the fan, and when you push the dial to turn on the AC, the light will remain on solid.

Not true. The light flashes 3 times indicating that there is an issue with the a/c system or that the ambient temp is too cold.

Proved to be true for me, and several hundred others. If this happens to be all it is in this case, there's a lot of money saved for senseless repairs.

Has a set of gauges ever been set on this system???



Whats the low & high pressure readings? Could be low on freon,which, U would have a leak, or as discussed,a restriction, IE: expansion valve.



Thats where one would first start to trouble shoot........right??
