Side Window rain deflectors

I've been using Weathertech side in-channel window deflectors on all my vehicles. They didn't have them for the '18+ so I used the much thinner internal tape AVS version which unlike the tightly seated no tape force fit Weathertech doesn't requires 3M tape to keep it in the channel. In my experience have had to remove and 3M re-tape the AVS' drivers side twice (starting to slightly droop off the top of the channel on others) because in the heat of the Sun with repeated window action tape less rigid visor tends to walk down off the top channel.

Finally, today I discovered that on their website Weathertech now offers the complete set of front and rear deflectors for the 18+ (two weeks ago they only offered the fronts).

https://www.weathertech.com/chevrole...ow-deflectors/

Based upon my previous purchases with lack of any maintenance and continuing to look as good as new even after 9+ years of placement (reused my '07s to the '13 Avalanche and kept for another 3 years) - worth it even at almost twice the price of the AVS. Ordered a set and I'll see - the 18+ Traverse must be selling quite well compared to other Chevy models- Weathertech still hasn't come up with a set for my '18 Malibu model which first started production in '15.

Looking forward to your review after you get them.

My front AVS are showing signs of the tape pulling away in some places. One of the rear keeps coming out from the front channel.

If yours fit well and are easy to install, I'll order a set also.

Thanks for the "head's-up"

Thomcat,

I will also be waiting to hear how they work out for you. Did you order the darker or lighter tinted version?

All 4 only currently available in darker......same tint as the current AVS which is only available in dark. Doesn't appear to interfere with side vision. Blends in better with the black gloss trim on the Redline.

Arrived and installed today......here's my opinion in comparison. The old AVS deflectors pulled right off with a single tug...so much for durability....saving them for retaping and swapping when I trade, the Weathertechs on the '18 will still look like new when transferred to the '22.

Like their previous rain deflectors, made in Germany from what appears to be a high grade Lexan type polymer, not crapo molded acrylic. And they have to be to provide the flex for a tape less install and pressure to keep firmly in the channel for the duration. The Weathertech are almost three times as thick as the AVS on the outside, but not in the portion that slides in the channel, appears that the channel edge is routed out and less interference inside the channel where it matters. Leading edges on the fronts of the Weathertech are not chopped off like the AVS and extend through the entire length of the channel behind the mirror all the way to the sill plate. Perhaps this will reduce any high speed wind noise from the mirrors

Rears are the same high grade force fit plastic but they have an addition coating of adhesive on the edge in the channel....and they fit all the way into the channel, not like the AVS' where the rear edges come out of the channel and taped to the outside of the weatherstrip. Less interference inside the channel because instead of the thickness of 3M tape used on the AVS which drooped and walked under the heat, the adhesive is vapor thin sprayed directly on the routed edge of the plastic. Sorry it took Weathertech so long to come out with their deflectors - never would have bought the AVS even though much less expensive.

Looks like stock match against the Redline trim.

On my first highway trip in our new '19, I was wondering about this possibility?
Hopefully you will report back confirming an additional reason to buy these

Weathertech logo on the front visors is easily removed with a little heat and fingernail scraping and remaining glue easily dissolved with WD 40 with no trace of damage to the visor. Usually I don't remove it because it was unobtrusive black lettering on the inside surface of a black visor, but the fronts for the '18+ use a white logo on the front surface which annoyed me.

Interesting that they are labeled made in Germany whereas most are not. If I remember correctly the original Weathertech visors in the late '90s were labeled made in Germany, promoting the quality of the plastic and precision of edge grinding for strength and a tight fit that won't cause interference in the channel. Might be production of new model designs are piloted at a different location.

Weathertech just wrote to say that my parts were on back-order. Could be up to 3 weeks before I get mine.
