Active Noise Cancellation remedy

I have a 2019 Traverse with the Non Bose system. I recently added a Rockford Fosgate 300 watt 10” subwoofer. Got it all from Crutchfield. I immediately discovered the ANC on my car, and this includes any new car with this feature, that it produced a rumble through the sub at low speeds and when accelerating. Crutchfield really didn’t know how to address the issue but a local shop did. They said the ANC has to be unplugged. Crutchfield did advise that the ANC is located on the floor to the right side of the gas pedal. Two access it you need to pull the left and right side center consoles off (10mm bolt on both sides and several clips hold them in place). The ANC is held in place by 3 10mm nuts, one on the left and two on the right. Unbolt and slide it to the driver’s side. I’ve circled which plug gets unplugged in my photo, which is the one located closest to the gas pedal when it’s mounted. You will then have a perfectly functioning audio system and your Bluetooth speaker/microphone is not affected. (Bose systems might be different for dealing with this problem)

ANC works fine on mine for reducing road noise, popped the RDO fuse and can notice a significant difference in noise reduction. And no rumble through my stock Bose subwoofer.

I can understand installing a better than stock audio system, but wouldn't disconnecting the ANC re-introduce the road noise and degrade the listening experience of installing better system?

I have not noticed any increase in road noise since disabling the system. My Traverse is every bit as quiet as my wife’s Cadillac CTS

Here’s the subwoofer I installed. Ran a fused 8 gauge power lead from the battery, used an 8 gauge ground, and tapped into both rear door speakers for the signal. The sub also came with its own remote which I installed on the lower side of the dash. What’s nice is the main harness unplugs from the sub and I can easily remove the tray to get to my spare. Another plus is it’s all hidden.

ANC is the biggest waste of money GM has ever spent.I have a customer that I made an ANC bypass harness for where he ran the microphone wires to a switch on his dashboard. So essentially he turns the ANC on and off with the flip of a switch and he said that it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever in the cabin area. The wind and engine noise remain the same whether he has it on or off.I've also experienced this in a 2011 Terrain where I disabled the ANC and it made zero difference.

100% correct sir!! ANC is really a gimmick. If you want the interior to be quiet than you need to do the hard work of removing the interior from the vehicle and lining all of the sheet metal with MLV. There are no "electronic" shortcuts around it.It's what they do with luxury cars which is why you pay $$$ for them.
