2015 Chevy Traverse

So I just bought a 2015 traverse. It has about 78,000ml on it. It doesn't happen every time but when I'm driving it from 2nd to 3rd gear it revs up to 4000rpms before shifting. Brought it to the dealer and it wouldn't do it. Got it back, started doing it again but this time upon accelerating it would shudder while revving high rpms, almost feeling like it was going to stall out. Brought it to the dealer again and they got it to do it slightly. They told me it was a glitch in the computer but was "normal" for chevy. There is no codes coming up and nothing on the bulletin. Any ideas on what it can be? Want to get it figured out before my warranty expires. Was thinking torque converter but hard to diagnose......

Lazy solenoids valves maybe? If he said it was normal for a chevy he needs to study more the transmissions.

Traverse 2017, chevy Uplander 2009 LT short wheelbase, Impala 2003, jeep cherokee Laredo 1990, chevy citation 1984 2.8 v6, vauxhall Firenza1972, rambler american 1964 model 330, vauxhall velox 1956 rebuilt, NSU Prinz 1961 2 cylinder micro car rebuilt, Renault Dauphine 1960 rebuilt, ford prefect 1952 ( english car with non hydrolic brakes rebuilt. Honda 1986 motorcycle in new condition and 13 travel trailers from a Boler 1300 to a Rockwood mini lite 20 feet.

Would recalibrating shift cycles fix lazy solenoids?

I had the same issue on a 2013 with 67k. I drained the transmission fluid and it was black, terrible looking. I heard black tranny fluid is common with these vehicles. On a drain and refill only half of the fluid drains. So i did two drain and refills plus added some transmission fluid conditioner and a few hundred miles later, it shifts tremendously better. I havent noticed a 2-3 shift flare in months. I do suspect an underlying torque converter issue on my car contaminated the fluid and will need to be adredded

I had a transmission specialist look at it. They said the reverse clutch was slipping. I will need a complete transmission rebuild.

You should probably get a second or third opinion and compare the results, then make a decision on what is the best solution.

While the "flare" may be common in gm transmissions
It is not Normal and should not happen

The 6T40 is an equinox transmission
And Traverse transmission is 6T75
The root cause might be similar.......

Problem When this common Equinox transmission problem occurs, the driver may experience slipping and/or a sudden flare/surge when the transmission shifts into or out of 2nd/6th gear.
Solution This problem is often caused by debris blocking the opening on the channel plate and spacer plate that provides oil to the 2-6 clutch regulator valve. To correct the issue, the channel plate, spacer plate and valve body will have to be cleaned.

If this is the same type of problem ^^^^
And your GM dealership will not fix your problem for you.....
Then you might try, might RISK, a transmission flush
My understanding is
Some transmission flushes will run a "detergent" through your transmission , in an attempt to clean gunk that have lodged themselves in small holes where they block flow....

"Rev up your engines" Scotty on utube says to never use such a flush, because you might plug up a hole in your transmission..... but if you already have issues.....
Who knows?

Or you could try....
As preventative maintenance, as mentioned by "cgostola" ^^^
What some folks do as described on this web site
is change 5 1/4 quarts of transmission fluid using "gravity" to drain transmission fluid. Then replace the fluid with 100 prevent synthetic fluid, this will give you about 50 percent clean new fluid. Then you might repeat this in another 500 miles....
menards sell 100% synthetic gm approved transmission oil for less then $6 per quart.

Solenoids that takes time to react. I will give you an exemple. On my former Impala there was very often a delay when I was ready to go on a green light. Or also between the shifts on the gears. It was a known issue with GM and no fun at all. I could go a week without any problems and going in the same issue again after.

Ok, When I slow down to 5-10 mph then step on the accl. the tranny hesitate a second or 2 or 3 before it finds a gear. Could that be "lazy" solenoids?


Been doing that ever since I've owned this 15.


And also, that slack in the parking "pawls", if that is what their called on these new trannies, seems very excessive. Took it to a dealer right after I got it, the young service man said it was normal.


Going to take it to another dealer soon as I get a round to it.
