Air conditioning

I have a 2010 traverse and have had issues with the air conditioning blowing heat the past two summers. Finally tried to do something about it and essentially all I’m getting to is the snowflake button flashing 3 times. Despite that that’s only supposed to happen when it is too cold out, the car is registering the temperature as 92 out. Thought it was the coolant and I filled it up because it was almost empty, but no change. I’ve also tried cleaning the temp censor on the dash and pressing both the recirculating button and air conditioning button at the same time but still getting heat. Every thing I’m finding either has a “resolution” I’ve already tried with failure or how to hot wire the car which I am way too cautious to even think about. Any help is appreciated!

Hello. I'm going to tell you what happened with my 2012's A/C in case it helps you or someone else out. My A/C was also blowing warm, but the A/C light was staying on constant as it's supposed to (no flashing). I attempted to recharge the system, but found that the compressor was not staying on even when I had it on max A/C with the doors open. I should note my exterior, or ambient, air temperature sensor also registers the correct outside air temp.

I took her to the shop, and they first replaced the duct air temperature sensor, explaining to me that the A/C compressor was shutting off as it was reading the incorrect temperature (in my case, reading a temperature of like 140 degrees). When the part arrived, they replaced it but it did not fix the problem. The system was holding a charge, no leaks, so they determined it was actually the HVAC control module. I have the HVAC control module on order from gmpartsdirect.com, and will install when it arrives.

Thought I would share since I haven't personally seen anyone with this particular problem in our platform. Good luck with your troubleshooting!

I have a 2011Traverse which also has A/C issues. It works fine when the car is cold or when it is kept moving while hot. The issue is when it is warmed to normal operating temperature and I get caught at a light or two. For some reason the A/C shuts off and blows hot air. System is fully charged. Interested in what else you find out. Please keep me posted. Seems temperature related for sure. Just not sure if it’s a sensor, the fan not running? If anyone has had similar issues please let me know what you did. Thanks
