Ok everyone, sorry if these are stupid questions but I just got a 2011 Traverse this weekend and I'm a little lost when it comes to the tranny dip stick and cap.

1.  I can't find the tranny dip stick anywhere.  Maybe I'm blind but I don't see it.  If someone could post a pic of it or direct me in the right direction that would be very helpful.

2. I found the transmission cap but I can't get it to come off.  All I can do is get it to turn about half a turn each way.  Is this how its supposed to be?  Is there something special that has to be done to get it to come off?  I even tried to push it in and nothing.

Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

The trans has no dip stick, just like a manual trans.  Can you post a picture of what "cap" you are trying to turn?

unless something changed with the 2011's...
heres pics of my 2010.

the trans dipstick

and the location of the dipsticks cap- down at the middle of the bottom of pic
I believe its a twist and turn and pull up
Note that my air filter and air tube to the throttle body is removed.
Though you can see and access the trans dipsticks without removing the forementioned items.
in the 1st pic- you can see the tube is still in place but Ive removed the dipstick

Thanks rbarrios for the pictures, That's the cap I was trying to turn but can't seem to get it off. When I turn it counter clockwise it only goes about half way and stops.  I even tried to push it in to get it to turn further and nothing.  Is your's hard to get out?  Is there a trick when you are turning it to get it to loosen up all the way?  Seems so simple but my darn cap just didn't want to turn after that half turn point.

The cap only turns 1/2 a turn if I recall correctly.  It's probably just the friction of the gasket that is keeping you from pulling it out.  Turn the cap like you did before, but give it a good pull, it will come out.

Our Traverse's Trans dipstick is the same as Rbarrios has shown here.

I agree with Rbarrios as well. The cap only turns about half a turn, and then just pulls straight out. The gasket has probably stuck to the surface from the factory. It will just take a slight tug to get it off. I would suggest smearing a small amount of the trans fluid or oil on the rubber o-ring on the cap, so that it doesn't stick the the housing agagin.

Sure enough, that was it.  Just need a good pull once it was turned.  I feel like an airhead for not figuring that out on my own but I guess thats what these things are for.  Thanks everyone for the help!

Thats what I get listening to the dealership.  I know my G8's Trans does not have a dipstick.  So I figured the dealer was not FOS. Oh No
