I've take proper care of my kid taxi but my mileage has never been great. Best I've seen is 17mpg and not expecting much more. I reset the DIC counters on every fill up and I'm averaging around 13mpg and sometimes lower. Ideas?

Pending maintenance:
Plugs
Transmission Fluid Change
Clean air intake valve..got some pooled oil..spray some intake cleaner.
Anything else?

I think an intake cleaning, new plugs, and a new air filter will probably help your MPG the most at this point.  If you're not already doing it, adding a fuel system cleaner at a consistent interval will help things out, too.  There are plenty of people here that use only Tier One fuel and add Techron (or similar) at every oil change.  I use only Tier One fuel and add one can of BG44K once a year and I've not had any issues.  Your mileage (and the opinions of others) may vary.

We just did 100K maintenance on our 2010 back in November/December.  This included new plugs, intake cleaning service (1st time), transmission flush (second time), and coolant service done at the dealer.  We were seeing between 14.5 and 15 MPG around town, but high temps had been around freezing and lows were below zero.  After the service, MPG was between 16.0 and 16.5 MPG around town (back to where it had been in colder weather) and we averaged over 21 MPG on our 1600+ mile Thanksgiving round trip--I think the intake clean and plugs were probably the keys to that improvement.  That trip was with a fully loaded vehicle, lots of mountain driving, some in-town driving mixed in, and fairly cold temps.  

I also did an oil change, air filter change, transfer case/rear differential fluid change (2nd time), front brakes (1st time), and serpentine belt (1st time) before we left on our trip, then replaced the factory struts/shocks after Christmas.

100K maintenance can be expensive, but worth it if you're keeping the vehicle for an extended amount of time.

Just wanted to add to these great posts. Cleaning the Mass Airflow Sensor would be a good idea. You can get a can of CRC 05110 MAF cleaner and clean that yourself. Pretty easy, just take it off the air tube and spray all around the inside and let dry, reassemble. Dirt on the sensor can alter the fuel mixture to a degree.

A person can look at a few pids and see a difference sometimes. Like the load, grams per second, fuel trims, not sure if the lambda's use hertz(a raw maf reading). Drawing a blank if there's any others, hehe.

I like to use the spray and compressed air a couple times to clean the filament. I think these are internal so you wouldn't see any working parts like the older cars used. Those were just filaments hanging in mid air and easy to see the dirt on them. Just have to get some spray in the holes from different directions the best you can.

It's super easy to do on the Lambdas. All you do is unplug the MAF and remove the 2 screws holding it to the air duct connecting the air filter case to the throttle body. Just be careful not to touch anything but the plastic housing of the MAF and you should be fine.

Do not put in Bosch plugs unless you have a Mercedes. If you have a mopar you put in champions, ford takes motocraft. The off brands can be a compromise. Best to put in the factory plugs the engine was engineered with. The factory Delco plugs are made by NGK, arguably the best mfr of plugs. They have Iridium pucks on both ends and the proper heat range. Iridium is 5 times stronger than platinum. Sorry but when I see that I feel I have to intervene. Oh and don't use any anti seize on the threads, the shiny silver is already a coating.

Did you use the slightly more expensive Techron Concentrate Plus or the slightly cheaper regular Techron Fuel System Cleaner? Believe GM recommends the Concentrate for our DIs though it certainly couldn't hurt to use the regular one.

yes, the CONCENTRATE PLUS- is the one that GM uses in certain repairs.

it is sold at GM dealers under in a similar bottle as Techron.


It is also recommended in the Owners manual.

For customers who do not use TOP
TIER Detergent Gasoline regularly,
one bottle of GM Fuel System
Treatment PLUS, added to the fuel
tank at every engine oil change, can
help clean deposits from fuel
injectors and intake valves. GM Fuel
System Treatment PLUS is the only
gasoline additive recommended by

Some folks have mistakenly bought the box at Costco- thinking its the Concentrate Plus....

The Techron concentration in the Injector cleaner is low.


Has to be the Concentrate plus.
