Hi,

New to forum so this is my first post.
Just traded our 2005 Trailblazer for an 2010 Traverse LT2 with 8,000 miles.
Love the vehicle but noticed a noise from right front on test drive which sounded like a tire noise.
The salesperson atributed it to aggresive tires and said it was nothing.
After taking delivery the noise sounds like more of a wheel bearing.
The noise starts as soon as you start moving and changes pitch if you turn wheel.
Anyone else have same problem.
Saw one other post relating to same issue which dealer told owner was normal to Traverse.
Have bumper to bumper warranty for 48/48 so it's going back this week.
Having driven other 2010s before purchasing this one I know it's not a nature of the beast.

Do you have the 255/65/18's Forterras? When they get a few miles on them they get loud  Sad

Thanks for your reply.
Yes it has forteras.
Can't believe after 8,000 miles tire would make that racket.
Tire wear is even with no scalloping.
Took back to dealer today we'll see what they say.

You may just have a bad wheel have them rotate the tires and see if the sound moves.

If it does get them to replace that tire. Sometimes they are defective.

I bought a set of new tires once and had a bad one only good year noticed it and let me take the car but ordered a new on and put it on the next day.

Or if you have a spare under your Traverse, throw that on.  Eliminate the culprit all together.  Sometimes its hard to tell if a sound moves or not.  Just a thought.

if you do move tires around- make sure you torque down the lug nuts to the proper ft/lbs- or else youll soon get warped rotors

Yes, the radial belts within the tire have been known to "shift", thereby causing noise and tire problem.

Was talking to a friend who's brother has an equinox it's gone thru 3 bearings in 50k.
Hopefully just a bad tire.

well tire rotation made no difference
they change r/f wheel bearing and noise remains
they now say it is normal for awd models and that it's from transfer case
tech said he's driven several 2010s on lot wth comparable milage and they all have same noise
going to drive one tommorow to verify
chevy is gotta be getting alot of complaints if this is case Angry

Well drove two others today both have same noise.
Can't believe there hasn't been more complaints
Having been a ASE tech years ago I guess I'm more atuned to abnormal ride noise than others
Guess we'll have to live with it (well wife will)
Tech says only TSB related to noise was for 2009s with Fortera tires
Maybe it's just the ride of these tire's
And unfortunately it's only tire made in that size
We'll see what happens after it's time for tire's

What size tire is it?  Tire manufacturer's have started making OEM Lambda sizes for awhile

Reading his previous posts, he has the 18".  I believe that there is a thread about replacement tires on the Acadiaforum.net

There are different manufacturers, only Cooper comes to mind right now.

Take a look over there for tire suggestions and comments.

Would you happen to know the TSB # my Mom has a 2009 Traverse that sounds like it has super swampers on it. I called the dealer and they couldn't find the TSB related to this.

I've had my 2010 Enclave for 7 months (bought used at 25k miles). Since day one we've had a roaring noise coming from the right front wheel well. At first I thougt it was missing some insulation panel or loose panel causing wheel noise but dealer said not possible. The noise is low toned, "wer wer wer" sounding and most prominent at 35mph - 37mph. Subsides a bit when running at that speed during moderate turning both left and right but loud again when straight.

First time in for service and the service manager said he couldn't hear anything and it was "a normal noise for an Enclave". argh! I have passengers that get in and comment on it...the last person wondered whether the wheel was going to come off.

I had the vehicle in today to fix or find the source and they thought it could be the brake pistons sticking due to rust and the pads coming in contact with the rotor but after an hour of break servicing and checking rotor alignment, noise is still there.

Is anyone else hearing a "wer wer wer" noise that is not a rotor issue. Anyone finding it unusually loud road noise in the front right wheel well?

To see if it's the tire, swap the two fronts around and go for a drive.
Right now though I suspect a wheel bearing.

I have a 2010 LT and have the same problem. Thought it was tires 255/65/18 but now suspect front wheel bearings. The darn hubs are rusted in the casting and I am trying to figure out how to bust them loose without damaging the casting or frame work. Seems the bearings have been a problem and it is not SKF's (OEM) fault but GM will not change the design. Maybe GM should just give you a car, no charge, they make up the price in parts and repairs.

Just wondering how it can be determined to be a "normal noise" by the service manager, if the service manager was unable to hear it ?
