2016 AWD MPG

I am sick of getting 13mpg combined and 18 on the highway. I've had the transmission checked and they tell me it's fine and normal. Is anyone else getting THIS BAD? I'm ready to trade it in.

On my 2011 Traverse AWD and Michigan driving my mileage was pretty close to what you are getting within a mile or so. I never made what the sticker said I should. In November, I traded the traverse in for a new Ford Explorer 4WD and my MPG's have been as advertised 16 city 23 highway.

Re: 2016 AWD MPG

My 2015 LTZ AWD gets a combined mileage out here in IA of 18mpg. On a trip to Philadelphia in January it got 21.5. I do not drive for economy and use cruise when on the open highway. Your 13 mpg seems very low.

Re: 2016 AWD MPG

I get my calculations from the DIC and hand calculating. The DIC is always 1 mpg higher. I have a leaking door panel too. I get wet with the windows up and door shut while driving! I am having the transmission checked, again and having a fuel consumption test run next week. I'm very frustrated.

Re: 2016 AWD MPG

Make sure they check the windshield for leaks. My 2015 started leaking and when I went through a car wash water dripped from the overhead console. Worse, water was running unseen, down the A pillar and into the fuse box located behind the glove box. This caused all sorts of problems including setting the CE light. It was repaired under warranty and included completely replacing the fuse box. These leaks have occurred on more than one Traverse. A water leak maybe affecting your performance.

What was the cause of the leak on yours?

Re: 2016 AWD MPG

What kind of conditions do you drive in? Hilly/mountainous terrain trashes the mileage of any car. I get about 11 MPG around town in my 2011 AWD and maybe 14 MPG on roadtrips. Now, I live in pretty extreme conditions in the Andes mountains where I can change elevation 1,000' on a local drive and go up and down 3,000' a three or four times on a roadtrip. And there is very little highway here. I did rent a 2016 Traverse last year while visiting Arizona. On our way from Scottsdale to the Grand Canyon, my MPG was 17 MPG (per the DIC) between Scottsdale and Flagstaff. It was pure highway driving, but the increase in elevation was almost 5700'. As soon as we leveled off in Flagstaff the average started climbing rapidly and by the time we returned to Scottsdale the total trip average was 24 mpg.

Re: 2016 AWD MPG

My leak was because of an improperly sealed windshield at the point of a body seem. Some leaks occur where the drain tube from the sun roof connects under the dash. (I don't have a sun roof.)

Re: 2016 AWD MPG

to the op---

what are your shiftpoints?

Youll have to carefully drive and take note of shiftpoints and MPH...

Im guessing theyre holding pretty high.

for example
1-2 may be shifting till 3000?
