I know there have been a few posts regarding remote start, but I couldn't find one that was relevant to me..

Anyways, my wife and I have a 2011 LS - and my wife recently bought an Avital remote start kit because she doesn't like to go out in the winter to start the car (leaving the kids inside and all). In my research, I have found that it isn't a great idea to do these installs on later model year cars, but if you do - it may require a bypass module.

Does anyone know of or are able to recommend a good bypass module for this unit? The unit in question is Avital 4103LXL.

Regards,
Barry

I would ask the business / store you purchased it from. They should know if their product is going to take any kind of bypass module to work or not. Then again, we all know that there are a lot of places that sell things like this, that don't know crap about how to install them. I would say that should be a start though. From what I have heard, there has only been about 2-3 people on here who have installed aftermarked remote starts. You may also want to try the Acadia forum. Quite a few more members there, and there seems to be more of this type of experience there.

Bought it from Amazon, so not too sure they have a clue what I need :)

Is it GXPweasel that does installs? or was it PonchoNutty...
One of these 2 fellas does installs of aftermarket stuff. Ponchonutty I see on the Outlook and Acadia forum...

But I recommend that on these newer vehicles- stay away from aftermarker Remote starts. especially if the installer does a hack job.

in the past- I believe they could not do the install on LS trim models.
But that may have changed on the 2011's.

But they would have to add a sensor to the hood latch (so remote start does not run engine if someone is working on engine)
the remote start module- and a reprogram.....

But this is the way to go if you want to avoid headaches down the road.

Aftermarket units that are installed by splicing into wiring- can cause alot of issues if not done right...

Theres a post on here of others trying to get remote start on 09's/10's

@BtotheRent, unfortunately, I do not have dealership labor pricing, but I do recommend calling around to several General Motors dealership to get the be price for this to be installed.

On a side note to other members of the forum; there is a remote start system available on GM Accessories Zone for an MSRP of $195.00.

Factory Remote Start - For Use on Vehicles with Manual Liftgate (TB4), but without Remote Keyless Entry and Engine Start (BTV), Includes 2 Fobs 22741622 $ 195.00
Factory Remote Start - For Use on Vehicles with Power Liftgate (TB5), but without Remote Keyless Entry and Engine Start (BTV), Includes 2 Fobs 22741621 $ 195.00

the part of it saying--- but without remote keyless entry and engine start is a little confusing.. since I believe even the LS comes with keyless entry.

Someone that I know just got a remote start installed on their 2011 Camaro, 3.6L, from the dealership. It costs around $450.00 Canadian, included two new keys, as the Camaro has the flip out key, like the equinox. Maybe a bit cheaper for the Traverse as it has the old style keys, and only a new fob would be needed.

Nope, not me.
I wish I knew how to, because one could make a killing if they wanted to. That is, if you did it correctly.

To answer the op's question about an interface module, here are a couple that should work for the 2011 Traverse.

http://www.readyremote.com/accessories.asp

http://www.xpresskit.com/product.aspx?productid=461

If you choose this route, I highly recommend that you have a qualified professional perform this installation. The module requires flashing the unit with the correct firmware to interface with the vehicles on board computer.

Personally I would go with the gm unit if possible...good luck. 8)
