Advice Wanted--replacing rear sway bar end links

Just got new timing chains and was hearing a click and clack in the rear when going over bumps and riding on rough roads. Dealership says both rear sway bar end links need replacing and they want $215 to do the job--out the door.

I'm pretty confident this is the problem and the repair will solve the problem. The question is this a fair price or am I being taken to the cleaners? 09 LS has 45,300 miles on it. Service advisor says no rush on this, not a safety issue unless the links break off. Your advice, please.

Re: Advice Wanted--replacing rear sway bar end links

Buy the links from an auto parts store and replace them yourself? I bet you'll save about 150.00 or so..

Looks pretty easy to replace them -

Re: Advice Wanted--replacing rear sway bar end links

I think those are actually stabilizer end links (bushings). The sway bar attaches to them as shown, but have their own bushings usually bolted to the undercarriage of the vehicle. Perhaps just a technicality in terms.

Shows the stabilizer links for about $33.00 (with new bushings) or part #13, stabilizer bushings (sway bar). I believe you want the stabilizer links. Very easy to replace if you are at all mechanical and can turn a wrench.

Re: Advice Wanted--replacing rear sway bar end links

Did you have this problem before your timing chain repair? Somebody else had a suspension problem caused because the dealership left their lambda on the lift with the tires/wheels dangling unsupported for a long time prematurely fatiguing the parts.
