AND ANOTHER FLUID LEAK

So I just had the timing chain gasket repaired under warranty less than a month ago. No more oil leaks, bu now noticed clear fluid in a few spots with an oily feel. 2013 Traverse with 39k miles. I'm sure they won't cover under warranty if it's the whole master cylinder/brake booster leaking issue. What else can go wrong! All I'm having with this car is issue after issue and it's going to start sucking all kinds of money from my wallet. Is there a customer service number I can call GM to help me on whatever the issue is? I highly suspect the brake booster and master cyl. Shouldn't be an issue on a vehicle this new with mileage this low

Re: AND ANOTHER FLUID LEAK

Leaks like this can be a real pain. Smell the fluid--brake fluid has a very distinct odor. Also, check your struts to make sure they're not leaking. I changed my wife's out last weekend (at 100K miles) and the passenger strut was leaving a small clear puddle under the car, but I didn't notice the strut leaking until I pulled the wheel.

You could contact Chevrolet Customer Svc on this forum to get some assistance as well.

Best of luck getting your issues sorted out quickly.

Re: AND ANOTHER FLUID LEAK

Thanks man. I'm horrible at smelling stuff due to allergies all the time lol, but really couldn't smell anything. I'm sure when they pulled the motor, something with the power steering could possibly been messed with? The leaks aren't near the wheels, but rather in the middle front area. That's what confuses me. Unless it's dripping down from the master cyl or if the power steering (which I believe it is) is in that area. My wife drives it and was gone so I'll check it out when I get home from work late night. I'm tired of leaks!!!

Re: AND ANOTHER FLUID LEAK

LOOKS like I found t! Can anyone help confirm?! Brake fluid looked fine, and brake booster was dry underneath! Does not smell like brake fluid...doesn't smell like anything is is clear with a tint of brown. After getting underneath, it's coming from a hose/line that has PSI on it...near the steering area and I'm guessing this is power steering fluid leaking. This was never an issue before they took the motor out. THIS has to be from when they did my timing chain gasket fix. ALSO, there's a connection at the bottom of the brake booster that was never connected..can anyone confirm this as well? I'm so pissed right now, and I'm hoping they fix their mistakes. Because I plan on NOT paying a dime for repairs. Otherwise I will make a complaint to GM about it.

Glad you found the leak. Sorry to hear you found some other potential issues, but I would present the facts to the dealer--after they fixed the timing chain gasket, something is leaking and you noticed another potential issue. I understand your frustrations--you paid a lot of money for this vehicle and you expect perfection from the dealer service department. But they're human and foul up every now and again--unfortunately it may have been on your car this time.

If you can't make any headway at the dealer, seek out Chevrolet Customer Svc (their username here) and let them help you through this.

Best of luck.

Re: AND ANOTHER FLUID LEAK

Sounds like power steering fluid to me....oddly though I would have guessed it would be DexVI fluid which is reddish in color if I'm not mistaken and was used in production starting in 2012 (not sure of exact build date). You can confirm by removing the engine cover (remove oil filter cap and lift plastic cover 'gently' it has a few push connectors that just pop into rubber bushings no tools needed). It shouldn't require a ton of force but might fight you a bit. The power steering reservoir is on the passenger side above the oil fill cap. Pull the dipstick and wipe it on a clean paper towel, you should be able to determine it's color and if it matches what you see leaking. See if there is a hang tag around the reservoir stating what fluid is in it. You can check the level and see if it's low as well. If it's clear I would wonder if that is correct or if they filled it with the wrong (read as old style) power steering fluid?

You have to shoot a picture of the brake booster to verify what line is not connected.

Re: AND ANOTHER FLUID LEAK

When I looked under, there is a hint of red or I would say more of a light tan/brown. Def wasn't brake fluid as it was not dark like brake fluid and no scent like it. The brake booster is missing it's male connector to the plastic female connector. They forgot to plug it in...I'm sure it's the low brake fluid sensor. And my wife is currently at the dealer now. I called and explained everything. I'm hoping they won't give me the run around and said it's wear and tear. But that's not the case when you pulled the motor a week before that. So we'll see....

Re: AND ANOTHER FLUID LEAK

It was fixed today. They went ahead and located the sensor plug for the brake booster and plugged it back in. Also, they told my wife a PS hose was not connected correctly. I will monitor it to see if there are any further leaks. Hopefully this will be good now. I just want my driveway and garage floors with no more constant leaks! Fingers crossed! I apologize if I seemed angry in my first post! Was just upset about something happening yet again from the oil leak issue it just had.
