SnowSport Plow

Several people have asked what I mounted a front receiver for. Well, here is the main reason:

I used the plow on the back of my former Forester with great success and decided to try it on the Traverse.

This is my driveway two winters ago.

Upstate NY! I used to live in Auburn. I sure don't miss the snow.
Without hydraulics how do you raise and lower the blade?

Re: SnowSport Plow

That is cool but I sure would not be using a Traverse as a plow vehicle. Buy an old rusty 4x4. It don't even need to be registered if its only used on your own property.

Thought about an older truck/plow but I didn't want the extra headache when it broke down. I've been using a snow thrower attachment on the lawn tractor for the past 10 years. I bought the plow on a whim for the Forester last year because I began to hate having to go out on a tractor in the snow. It did an excellent job on the Subaru, but we did have a mild snow season. I am however concerned about the Traverses AWD system not being up to the task, even with AT tires that are severe winter rated. We will see.........

Re: SnowSport Plow

I think you'll be impressed, just remember to shut off the traction control when it gets tough. You'll still have to work around the Stabili-Trac.

Re: SnowSport Plow

I'd be more concerned about shorting the life of the already fragile 6T75. Plowing builds up a lot of heat in a transmission very quickly. Do you have an external cooler?

Re: SnowSport Plow

With the low height of the blade, I wouldn't think the loads will be that high with fresh snow. Attacking a crusty berm, however...
